Nutmeggy Mama

Nutmeggy is one of Animals In Distress's longest resident cats, joining us in January 2025. Nutmeggy was humanely trapped with her two sweet babies, Coconut and Filbert, since adopted into a loving home. The original plan for this mama cat was to TNR her, but upon examination our vet informed us that she had a condition called Stomatitis. Stomatitis is a very painful condition that causes the gums to swell and become inflamed, making it hard to eat. Our options were to euthanize her, as going back outside was not an option with this condition, or to provide her with dental care and convert her to an inside kitty. Her foster knew she had the potential to be a sweet house cat and so we proceeded with dental surgery. The relief was apparent after healing from surgery with a change in her disposition. While she is very affectionate with her foster parents, she is still very skittish and wary of people she does not know. She is not easily handled. Her nervousness clouds potential adopters' ability to see her true personality, and so her time with AID lengthens. She absolutely loves other cats and shows this by aggressively/lovingly headbutting them. Until she has a permanent home, you can support Nutmeggy by becoming her sponsor. See her ad here.
